AHIP 2026 - Top 10 Takeaways from Major Insurance Conference (June 12, 2026)

We attended AHIP 2026 and came away with the view that 1) participants' mood

around MA has significantly improved versus the March conference; 2) conference goers

continue to see challenges as it relates to Medicaid and ACA Public Exchanges as these

product categories face work rules and on-going program integrity measures, and 3)

Value-based care was the subject of positive commentary for the first time in two years,

but it was noted CMS and anti-trust regulators need to get in sync. Overall, our view was

reinforced that the large diversified managed care names are best positioned in this

environment with UNH our top pick given its leverage to MA and its diversified book of

business. We came away from the conference remaining more cautious on single-line

businesses with exposure to Medicaid and the Exchanges. (Link to Note)

for Hospitals (June 10, 2026)

AI as the Next Operating Layer in Healthcare: Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming a

core operating layer across the healthcare system, with both payers and providers

working to deploy it at scale to deliver administrative and clinical efficiencies. The most

immediate and tangible impact has been in high-volume, process-heavy workflows:

claims processing, documentation, labor management, call center operations, etc. In

these areas, automation and better data utilization can reduce costs and free up

administrators and clinicians to spend more time on higher-order tasks. While payers
