The SARB MPC today delivered a dovish surprise by holding the policy rate steady

of underlying inflation has worsened. The only plausible justification for this dovish

action is a significant, and perhaps overly optimistic, reduction to near-term

inflation forecasts, which they appear to have used as the primary off-ramp to avoid
