We hosted our second China ETAC bi-weekly mgmt group call on 7 July with

Sifang Automation’s mgmt and CTO to discuss SST tech.

Why it matters

• US partnership supports North America expansion. Sifang is partnering

with a US data-centre solutions provider to enter North America. Sifang

provides SST and power-system expertise, while its partner contributes

customer access, local market knowledge and specification support, helping

reduce entry and geopolitical risks.

• Earlier commercialisation timeline. Mgmt expects 13.8kV SST

commercialisation from late 2027, ahead of its previous 2028–29 timeline.

The acceleration is driven by North America's transformer shortage and

improving customer interest. Sifang and its partner are currently finalising

product specifications ahead of testing.

• Product readiness backed by experience. Sifang's first-generation SST

portfolio covers 10–35kV and 1.25–15MW. Its 10kV product achieves 98.5%

efficiency and requires 65% less floor space than conventional transformer-

plus-UPS systems, while the 35kV prototype is under internal testing.

The company has around 10 years of SST experience and has completed

multiple medium-voltage DC pilot projects in China.

• Certification and economics remain supportive. The first certification

test is expected by end-July 2026. While pilot projects may proceed with

customer validation, large-scale deployment will require formal certification.

Management expects attractive North American profitability, with further

cost reductions from SiC devices and high-frequency transformers.
