CMMI: Centers for Medicare and MedicaidDME Industry Association, AAHomecare stated that it is working with Congress on Innovation
legislation that would delay product categories in competitive bidding for 5 years, create a
technical advisory panel, and add a demonstration project to ensure that Medicare NIH: National Institutes of Health
beneficiaries are protected. CMS is implementing DME Competitive Bidding Round 2028
CDC: Centers for Disease Control
for several new categories including Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) and Insulin
Pumps, ostomy supplies, urological supplies, and off-the shelf braces. CMS plans to have DME: Durable Medical Equipment
this round of competitive bidding take effect no later than January 1, 2028. In March,
Senators Shaheen (D-NH) and Collins (R-ME) introduced legislation to delay competitive CGM: Continuous Glucose Monitors
bidding for glucose monitors and insulin pumps for 5 years.
