PRIME Vs BEAM Arbitration Resolved: PRME

Free To Develop AATD Prime Editor

PRME press released that the arbitration tribunal declared PRME is within its

rights to develop AATD prime editor PM647 under the 2019 Collaboration &

License Agreement w/ BEAM. PRME doesn't owe monetary damages to BEAM.

PRME has recently said they're making material synonymous transversion edits

(falls under PRME's field) to improve primed editing efficiency. PRME plans to

submit IND and/or CTA in 3Q26 (vs prior mid'26) w/ initial clin data in 2027.

Big Picture: PRME finished up +16% (vs XBI -1% & BEAM -3%) -- arbitration decision (process

initiated by BEAM in April'25) now clears the way for PRME to bring AATD prime editor PM647

into clinical development stage w/o monetary damages to BEAM, which is the best-case

scenario for PRME and creates pot'ly path to our est'd $1.1B peak sales oppty in AATD.

We think the relative stock moves for PRME and BEAM make sense, given the update removes

pot'l royalty payment risk overhang for PRME to BEAM, which we and investors estimated

would be incremental based on precedent. The update helps validate PRME's editing approach as

technically differentiated (vs BEAM), but ultimately, it is TBD if the approaches will be distinguishable

in AATD clinical outcomes.

For BEAM, the arbitration ruling means that a 4th early-stage AATD competitor is entering the mix

in addition to Serapha/Yoltech's base editor (ph.II starting toward YE26), CRSP's SyNTase editor

(ph.I starting mid'26), & REGN's RNA gene writer TSRA-196 (ph.I/II recruiting started May'26),

but we continue to think BEAM has an ~1.5-2yr lead vs comps w/ pivotal on-track to start 2H26.
