Quarterly Lithium Battery Channel Check
Expert Call Takeaways
We hosted a channel-check expert call on 6 July with Davy Long and
his team from Shanghai NECI Information Consulting to assess EV and
BESS battery demand-supply dynamics in 2H26 and 2027. The discussion
offered detailed production schedules for major LiB players through 3Q26
and October 2026, as well as forward-looking views on EV, ESS and
BBU demand, pricing, and competitive trends across 2026–2027. Key
takeaways are below.
Production schedule continuously increasing month by month in 3Q26 to Oct ‘26:
Based on Davy’s latest estimates, scheduled global power battery production is set to climb
steadily through 3Q26.
1. July 2026 is projected to reach 265 GWh in total power battery output, of which 90 GWh
will be allocated to BESS. This marks the starting point of the upward trend, albeit with
moderate growth as new lines gradually come online.
2. August 2026 sees a notable lift to 280 GWh (BESS: 95 GWh), reflecting the initial
contribution from the freshly installed capacity at Envision and Cornex.
3. The most significant surge is anticipated in September 2026, when scheduled production
is expected to jump to 300–320 GWh (BESS: 112 GWh). This sharp increase is attributed
to the more visible and accelerated ramp-up of industry-wide new capacity, suggesting
that several large-scale facilities will reach commercial operation during that month.
4. Looking ahead to October 2026, Davy believes that scheduled production will continue to
rise further, though specific figures were not provided. The momentum is likely to persist
as utilisation rates remain elevated and seasonal demand picks up.
