Shimamura (8227): In the Shimamura business, same-store sales fell for the first Kazuki Oike

Monthly sales (20th of the month closing, FY2/27): Shimamura released preliminary +81-3-5208 6964

monthly sales data for June after the market close on 23 June. For the Shimamura

format, same-store sales fell 2.0% yoy and all-store sales declined 1.7%. For the Avail

format, same-store sales grew 13.4% and all-store sales were up 16.3%. For the

Birthday format, same-store sales fell 9.3% and all-store sales declined 6.9%.

Breaking down factors for sales growth in the Shimamura format on an all-store basis in

June, customer traffic fell 3.4% yoy and sales per customer grew 1.7%. In the

breakdown of factors affecting sales per customer, the price per item rose 0.3% yoy and

the number of items purchased increased 1.4% yoy. The number of weekend/holiday

days was up by one yoy, boosting sales 1.6%. FY2/27 guidance for same-store sales in

the core Shimamura format is for an increase of around 3% yoy. For Shimamura, we

forecast FY2/27 OP of ¥67.7bn (company guidance ¥66.5bn, IBES consensus ¥66.5bn),

assuming +3.4% yoy growth in same-store sales in the Shimamura business.

On 22 June, Shimamura's competitor in the Birthday format, Nishimatsuya Chain (7545,

not covered) announced its preliminary monthly sales for June, reporting a 1.4% yoy rise

in same-store sales (customer traffic +3.1%, sales per customer -1.7%). Nishimatsuya
