Canadian-Listed ETF Weekly Flows Recap [Jun 12-18]
Equity ETFs dominated inflows last week (+$3.6 billion).
• Canadian broad equity rebounded with +$570 million of inflows, followed by EAFE (+$416 million) and U.S. exposures (+$322 million), while emerging markets saw modest
outflows of -$112 million.
• Financials led sector flows with +$657 million of net creations, primarily driven by ZEB and FSF. Tech and energy also attracted +$111 million and +$92 million, respectively. In
contrast, gold miners reversed prior strength, with XGD contributing to -$118 million of net outflows.
• From the factor lens, value remained in favour (+$154 million), while low volatility strategies added a more modest +$48 million.
Fixed income ETFs reported +$537 million of net creations last week.
• Flows were broadly positive across investment-grade (+$476 million), aggregate (+$153 million), and government bond ETFs (+$46 million).
• By duration, short-term bond ETFs attracted net creations, while cash management products experienced modest outflows.
Gold bullion ETFs experienced -$159 million of net redemptions.
Within ETF portfolios, all-equity and balanced strategies reported +$457 million and +$185 million in net inflows, respectively, alongside +$71 million into growth-focused mandates.
