ADA Debriefing: Leading Obesity Specialist Highlights Key Takeaways from NoLa

Agents like Lilly's and Novo's combination product CagriSema could serve a key place for patients

who are refractory to tirzepatide and/or semaglutide. Tirzepatide and semaglutide are likely to

remain standard front line treatment options in obesity going forward, but as new amylin-based agents

reach more advanced development and commercialization, Dr. Aronne is more confident these therapies

will fill an important place as treatment options for refractory patients. There remains a meaningful

subsection of patients in Dr. Aronne's practice that fail to respond to even agents like retatrutide, clearly

highlighting the need for alternative mechanisms like amylin to offer a solution to these patients.

Upcoming Ph 2 eloralintide+tirzepatide combo data in 2H26 could be an important readout where

investors get the opportunity to again assess additive impacts of amylin based agents to an incretin

base.

The Wegovy Pill relies on a strong track record of positive physician experience and outcomes

data that is currently differentiating the product vs. Lilly's Foundayo. Dr. Aronne noted that

physicians have known semaglutide's profile for years now, and the product's food effect is less

impactful than some may think. Given Wegovy Pill has associated cardiovascular outcomes data that

appears on the label, Dr. Aronne sees this clear labeling distinction as critical for current physician

uptake, especially in comparison to Foundayo that currently lacks the same distinction. Interestingly,

he has noticed that younger patients have shown a slight preference for Foundayo due to their interest

in not having to take the pill without food or water. Older patients have appeared more comfortable
