Innovative Aerospace Summit: EVIO Advancing
Hybrid Regional Aviation
We hosted Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO Michael Derman and Senior
Director, Finance, Stefan Suppa at EVIO at our 4th Annual Jefferies Innovative
Aerospace Summit. Key takes: 1) EVIO targeting regional routes w/ 88-
seat hybrid-electric aircraft; 2) clean-sheet, strong hybrid architecture core to
reducing total ownership cost; 3) Boeing/P&W collab and battery partnerships
help derisk execution; 4) defense and battery tech adjacencies could support
near-term rev.
Company Overview: EVIO is developing a family of hybrid-electric regional aircraft, led by the 88-
seat EVIO 810, designed to restore profitability on short-haul regional routes while reducing noise
and emissions. The platform is optimized for all-electric operations on shorter missions and hybrid
operations on longer routes, with passenger, cargo, and defense applications. The founding team
previously worked together on the AirLand program that became Textron’s Scorpion and the Sierra
Nevada Freedom advanced jet trainer/light attack aircraft.
Regional Economics Drive The Thesis: EVIO is addressing a regional aviation market where
roughly 3,000 sub-500 nautical mile routes have been dropped globally since 2000, despite those
routes representing ~43%-46% of global departures. The view is that legacy aircraft designed
in the 1980s/1990s no longer meet current airline profitability requirements, given crew costs,
maintenance, emission risk, and broader operating pressures. EVIO’s strategy starts with operator
economics rather than emissions alone.
