Certification, Scale & Lift-Off
We hosted 17 companies at our 4th annual Innovative Aerospace Summit,
representing passenger and dedicated logistic OEMs, component suppliers,
infrastructure developers, and operators. We include key takeaways /
perspectives from players in the emerging ecosystem and summarize data
points offered by attending OEMs. Amongst covered companies, BETA and
EVEX presented and we heard from a range of uncovered and private industry
players.
Certification And Early Operations Are Becoming The Primary Industry Proof Points. Multiple
participants emphasized that the industry is transitioning from aircraft concepts toward
conforming vehicles, regulatory validation, and initial commercial operations. BETA highlighted
its stepwise certification strategy, with CX300 certification expected in 2027, while the eVTOL
Integration Pilot Program could enable for-hire cargo and medical operations before full type
certification. JOBY noted it is in the final stage of FAA certification, with FAA-conforming aircraft
flying, five conforming aircraft planned to run testing in parallel, and initial 2026 operations expected
through limited routes and controlled environments. EVEX is targeting certification in Brazil and
the U.S. in 2028, with five conforming prototypes planned for the 12-month flight test campaign
beginning in 2027. EVTL expects certification around 2028 under EASA/CAA standards, with
management emphasizing its full transition flight as a key technology de-risking milestone. EH
is furthest along commercially in China, having obtained Type Certificate, Production Certificate,
