Innovation in Payments & FinTech "Highlights from Stripe Tour London 202..."

conomic value still tends to attach to human time.

SaaS platforms: Vertical software is becoming a distribution layer for financial

services

The SaaS platform session highlighted that vertical software and marketplaces

increasingly want to own the financial relationship with their customers, not just provide

workflow tools. Stripe framed successful platforms around three priorities: online/offline

payments, embedded AI and control of the financial services stack. Treasury for

platforms was a major theme, allowing software platforms to offer multi-currency

accounts, bank account details, supplier payments and money management directly

inside the product rather than forcing merchants to move funds out to a bank. Stripe

also highlighted business financing, with companies using Stripe Capital growing

around 27% faster on average, and noted that interest-bearing accounts with FSCS

insurance are expected in the UK. Treatwell described payments as increasingly central

to the salon and beauty merchant relationship, especially as it bridges marketplace

bookings, SaaS tools and in-store acceptance. Sage described a shift from payments as

an add-on to now fully embedded as part of cash-flow management, including invoices,

pay-now links, reconciliation and embedded finance.
