Sanchez narrowly ahead, leading by a tight margin (50.3% against 49.7% for right-

wing Keiko Fujimori). Note that first partial official results -with 70% of votes counted Rafael De La Fuente

largely reflect reporting dynamics: initial tallies tend to be dominated by urban and

coastal areas, where Fujimori tends to perform relatively better. These early figures may

therefore underrepresent Sanchez’s support in rural regions. While results could narrow

as more rural ballots are incorporated, the extent and speed of any convergence with

the Ipsos estimate remain uncertain at this stage.

Final vote count needed to claim victory

The slight advantage shown by Sanchez over Fujimori in Ipsos’ rapid count suggests that

both presidential candidates may need to wait for the full official vote count before
