BESS and Sodium-Ion
GM announced it is investing in next-generation sodium-ion battery technology,
partnering with Peak Energy to develop purpose-built cells for grid-scale energy
storage systems (ESS). This move is driven by the increasing demand for electricity
and the need for reliable, affordable power over long periods in stationary
applications. Sodium-ion batteries are compelling due to their potential for lower
costs, greater reliability, and performance across a wider range of temperatures
without requiring active cooling, reducing system complexity and maintenance,
