Our initial impression from in-person time with CEO Bob Wright was that of a

at the helm. Bob Wright comes across as an execution-first CEO drawing on >40 christabel.rocha@jpmchase.com
years in restaurants, and notably this being his third time at Wendy’s following J.P. Morgan Securities LLC
early operational roles in the Columbus home market Jun’98-Apr'05, followed as
a COO Dec'13-May'19, overseeing ~1/3 of G&A. We look forward to hearing
more periodical updates as Bob also focuses on broader talent densification across
the organization.
• A more operator-led, menu/value-architecture-driven turnaround with
franchisee partnership. This was followed by Bob's stated bias toward
operational systems, incentive alignment across all stakeholders, and pacing/
sequencing initiatives against talent and capital constraints. Implicitly
borrowing the parts of Burger King’s capital-contributing “Fuel the Flame”
operations focus is viewed as a possibility as it was made clear that owning the
execution is key for operations to not stand in the way of brand's success.
• Project Fresh stays directionally intact, but expect a rebrand under Bob's
own strategy.
