Portfolio discipline and platform focus: Portfolio decisions remain anchored on growth,
returns, ability to win and synergies. This is driving exits where Nestlé lacks structural
advantage, including half of its VMS portfolio, Waters and Blue Bottle, and reallocating capital
towards global platforms such as cold coffee. The strategy is increasingly selective, with sharper
focus on where the group can win.
China: distribution to demand reset: China was acknowledged as a key rebuild story. Prior
growth was driven by distribution expansion rather than consumer pull, masking underlying
weaknesses. The reset focuses on consumer pull and improving route-to-market quality and
building demand via social commerce, partnerships and faster innovation. In our view the drag
from China should start to ease from here, with Q2-26 albeit still likely negative in organic
growth terms, before turning positive in H2-26.
India: underpenetrated but not underweight: India remains a priority growth market, albeit
not structurally underweight at ~2% of sales vs ~3% of global GDP. The strategy is continued
investment under a broader emerging markets push, with capital increasingly directed towards
higher-growth regions.
Conclusion: Overall, a confident performance from Nestle's CFO. It is clear that Nestle is
making real progress from the challenging times in the last few years. Skewing investments
behind where it has right to win such as coffee and petfood is making a difference. We still
want to see Nestle execute on the parts of the portfolio that it has deemed non core such as
Waters and half of its VMS portfolio, but the direction of travel is positive. That said, the bar
