In this note, we share our thoughts on Meta Instants, Amazon’s shopping re-do (Rufus to Alexa and more AI-friendly

search & discovery integrations), Google I/O, Uber One Member days, LA port data, and AI apps engagement trends.

Post Q1 earnings, the focus shifted to China/US talks, oil prices and inflation, AI catalysts vs. competitive threat (a large

rotation out of Internet into semis, memory), valuations, potential interest rate hikes, and ongoing geopolitical tensions

(U.S. & Iran conflict).

What do we expect this week?

1. Google I/O: We will be listening for commentary on i) announcements re: new Gemini model that’s competitive

with GPT 5.5; ii) updates on AI coding workflows in Gemini; iii) Gemma updates; iv) scaling of Google’s TPU

stack; and iv) Agentic commerce and UCP updates

2. Meta Layoffs on May 20th: Planned layoffs to occur on May 20th with the remainder later in the year.

3. Uber One Member Days: Uber One Member Days event is back for more days and in many more countries with

more perks this year vs. last, and we will be watching for engagement improvement on Uber apps and expect
