OpenAI's Personal Finance Experience: Implications for Credit Bureaus

integrated within

LLMs from the persona of a consumer looking to find an appropriate credit card. The consumer was

able to search within their LLM of choice and ask for credit card recommendations that matched certain

criteria—for example, "best credit card for airline miles." The LLM provided options, and the consumer

could prompt for Experian and sign up for the credit card through the LLM use case. In the backend,

Experian showed how the LLM was able to call information directly through Experian's data using

agents and workflows, performing tasks like ID verification and data checks, all in real time. From the

lender's perspective using EXPN's workflow capabilities to interact with the consumer, EXPN designed

the workflow to be modular, so the customer could incorporate other data points from their own sources

without breaking the workflow. See EXPN - AI Investor Event Takeaways note for details.

OpenAI Launches Personal Finance Experience in ChatGPT

On Friday, May 15th, OpenAI released a preview of a new personal finance experience in ChatGPT,

initially available to Pro users in the United States. The feature allows users to securely connect their

financial accounts, view a comprehensive dashboard tracking spending patterns, and ask ChatGPT

questions informed by their financial context—all while maintaining full control over their data. The

company is beginning with a limited preview to gather real-world feedback before expanding the

offering.

The update comes as ChatGPT has become a significant resource for personal finance guidance, with

more than 200 million monthly users seeking assistance with budgeting, investment questions, financial

path comparisons, and long-term goal planning.
