ividuals, GLP-1 RAs and
GLP-1/GIP dual agonists can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular
issues, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and potentially obesity-related
cancers. For these patients, these two types of drugs can be
rightfully considered longevity drugs. There is no research on
the potential benefits of GLP-1 RAs and GLP-1/GIP dual agonists
for healthy people—the target population of our research.
• Urolithin A. There is not enough research involving Urolithin
A supplementation to conclude that Urolithin A is an anti-aging
supplement—helping to prevent or delay the onset of the four main
chronic diseases. Most of the positive results from studies on Urolithin
A supplementation have involved older people and/or people with
low physical activity levels. These data cannot be extrapolated to a
younger and healthier population. However, there are autophagy and
mitophagy benefits associated with Urolithin A supplementation,
1 Autophagy: —auto-phagos, or eating yourself in ancient Greek—is a self-degradative process at the cellular level that plays a key role in balancing sources of energy at critical times during development and in
response to nutrient stress. Autophagy also plays a housekeeping role in removing misfolded or aggregated proteins, clearing damaged organelles, as well as eliminating intracellular pathogens, allowing
this debris to be reused in cell growth. Autophagy is generally thought of as a conserved survival mechanism. In addition to elimination of intracellular aggregates and damaged organelles, autophagy
promotes cellular senescence and cell surface antigen presentation, protects against genome instability and prevents necrosis, giving it a key role in preventing diseases such as cancer, neurodegeneration,
