CME and ICE Reportedly Push Regulators to Scrutinize Hyperliquid. CME Group
and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) have reportedly urged U.S. regulators and
lawmakers to more closely scrutinize Hyperliquid, raising concerns that the
platform’s decentralized perpetual futures marketplace could enable market
manipulation, sanctions evasion, and distortions in commodities benchmarks
such as global oil markets. According to Bloomberg reporting cited by CoinDesk,
the exchanges argued that Hyperliquid’s anonymous, 24/7 trading environment
and growing expansion into synthetic equities and commodities markets create
increasing overlap with traditionally regulated derivatives venues. The development
highlights mounting competitive and regulatory tensions between rapidly growing
decentralized trading platforms and incumbent financial exchanges as crypto-native
infrastructure expands further into traditional asset markets.
Ledger Reportedly Pauses U.S. IPO Plans Amid Weak Crypto Equity Market
Conditions. Hardware wallet and digital asset security firm Ledger has reportedly
paused plans for a potential U.S. IPO due to unfavorable market conditions,
according to CoinDesk. The company had previously been reported to be exploring
a listing that could value the firm at roughly $4B. The development comes amid
weaker crypto trading volumes, softer token prices, and volatile public market
performance across recently listed digital asset companies. Despite pausing IPO
plans, Ledger has continued expanding its U.S. institutional footprint, including
appointing former Circle executive John Andrews as CFO and opening a New York
office focused on its Ledger Enterprise platform and institutional digital asset
business.
