Ceribell: Vegas Takes
Opportunities for continued utilization improvement
CBLL’s active account base is only 30% penetrated. Top accounts use the Ceribell
system at ~3x the rate of the average account. The key differentiators observed in those
accounts include: 1) coverage across all departments (ICUs, EDs, step-down units, and
floors), 2) a coherent cross-department patient workflow, 3) well-trained physician and
nursing staff, including overnight shifts, and 4) protocolized use for specific patient
populations such as post-cardiac arrest patients, where AHA guidelines call for prompt
EEG monitoring. There also is still room for additional utilization in the top accounts and
these accounts are easier opportunities to bring in new indications. New account
utilization is modestly below the average (small dilutive effect), but CBLL invests in
high-quality launches to establish best practices from day one, which tend to be sticky.
Neonate in full commercial launch
Feedback from neonate has been very positive which is why CBLL announced full
commercialization this qtr, towards the optimistic end of the internal timeline. CBLL
noted a benefit of the neonate launch is not needing to explain the difference of partial
montage vs full montage, which was a hurdle in the adult seizure launch but not neonate
given neonate is full montage. CBLL also highlighted that clinicians caring for neonates
place a particularly high emphasis on neurological outcomes. The DRG for neonate is
higher than adult because these patients stay in the ICU for much longer. If hospitals can
avoid patient transfer with access to EEG, they can keep these patients which benefits
hospital economics. CBLL has just started messaging the neonate product to the 200
NICUs in its installed base.
