Mexico's mobile registry reaches 48mn lines (~33% of total), with ~2mn/day
pace needed to meet July 1 deadline. According to El Economista, the CRT said
48mn mobile lines have been registered under Mexico's mobile registry as of
May 13, representing ~33% of the total market. With ~48 days remaining, ~2mn
lines per day would be required for full registration before the July 1 deadline,
after which unregistered lines will be deactivated.
AMX CEO pushes for spectrum price reform in Mexico. According to El
Economista, AMX CEO Daniel Hajj said at the GSMA M360 forum that Mexico's
spectrum prices should be benchmarked against current international levels
rather than historical references. Mexico remains the only country in the
Americas without a 5G spectrum auction and the only one to have seen
operators return band concessions, constraining the country's 5G rollout.

beyond its marketplace. According to TechCrunch, Amazon launched Alexa for
Shopping, a new AI shopping assistant powered by Alexa+ that replaces Rufus
(its 2024 AI assistant). The assistant offers personalized recommendations,
product comparison, price tracking, and recurring order scheduling across
mobile, desktop, and other devices.
