FY3/26 results and FY3/27 guidance offer no major surprises
11 May 2026
ESG
Workman has prioritized five key issues in working toward achieving a sustainable
society: sustainable product development, contributions to the global environment,
employee and member store satisfaction, contributions to society, and governance. In
order to avoid putting stress on its employees, the company does not emphasize
quotas or deadlines, but it does commit to achieving the priority targets even if it takes
time.
Environment
In addition to striving to reduce water pollution by limiting waste water when producing
denim products and by curbing waste water through the use of spun-dyed yarn,
Workman has also installed a solar power generator on the roof of its Ryuo
distribution center in an effort to promote renewable energy. The company is also
transitioning to environmentally friendly vehicles and switching over to LED lighting in
its stores. It has set a goal of cutting its product waste ratio to 1% or lower, and in
FY3/24 it achieved a waste ratio of only 0.59%.
Social
In areas afflicted by earthquakes, flooding, and other natural disasters, Workman
provides emergency supplies such as cotton work gloves, rubber boots, and plastic
sheets/tarpaulins. The company also contributes to educational and cultural programs
via the Beisia 21st Century Foundation. In addition to domestic factories, the company
is also working to strengthen its partnerships with manufacturers by establishing
long-term, continuous trade relationships with factories in developing nations as well.
Governance
The company announced that, following approval by the General Meeting of
Shareholders held on 29 June 2021, it transitioned from a Company with Audit Board
structure to a Company with Committees structure.
