Overall card spending was up 4.8% in April 12 May 2026
Total card spending per HH, as measured by BAC aggregated credit and debit cards, was Equity
up 4.8% y/y in April. On a m/m SA basis, BAC card spending per HH increased by 0.6%. See United States

Home improvement declined slightly in April
April spending at home improvement retailers (a proxy for DIY spending) decreased (1%)
YoY (+14% from April 2019) vs. up 1% YoY in March. April spending on housing-related
services (a proxy for pro contractor spending) increased 4% YoY (+59% from April 2019)
vs. up 7% YoY in March.
