Belgium - Regulator proposes shorter sim-only contracts
Belgian regulator Bipt has proposed limiting sim-only mobile contracts to a maximum of six
months, while allowing contracts of up to two years when a handset is included, as part of a
broader government push to boost competition and affordability in the telecom market. The
regulator also wants operators to more actively inform customers about the best available plan
based on their usage. Additional measures focus on improving transparency around bundled
packages, insurance and cancellation terms, with a public consultation open until 08 June

UK Fibre war - Pulse fibre issues notice of intention to appoint administrator
Pulse Fibre, which focuses on deploying Fibre-to-the-Premises internet connections in new
build UK housing developments and MDUs, has issued a notice of intention to appoint an
administrator, highlighting the financial strain facing parts of the altnet sector. The company
had previously set out an ambition to deliver more than 250k full-fibre connections, although
progress toward this goal is now unclear. As we showed in BT: Competitive intensity steps up –
no end in sight (2 October 2025) fibre build continue to progress in UK and we see competition
not easing near term.
