• EDF maintains 2026, 2027 French nuclear production estimate at 350-370 TWh (Platts). French nuclear operator EDF has

confirmed its annual estimates for French nuclear production for 2026 and 2027, it said July 13. “EDF maintains its nuclear production

estimate for 2026 between 350 and 370 TWh (including Flamanville-3),” EDF said in a brief note on its transparency website, with

a similar note for 2027. In 2025, output rose to 373 TWh, the highest since 2019, with 2026-to-date trending above 2019, system

data showed. Analysts at S&P Global Energy CERA forecast 2026 output at about 381 TWh, including actual output for the first six

months and forecasts for the second half. That is despite lowering the August forecast “to account for the risk of further heat-related

outages for the remainder of summer,” the analysts said in a report on July 9. French year-ahead power settled July 10 at Eur59.97/

MWh, having risen gradually from under Eur50/MWh in late 2025, EEX data show. State-owned EDF will report some financial figures

for the first half of the year on July 31.

• Germany faces calls to delay carbon neutrality goal to 2050 (Platts). Germany is facing growing pressure from industry and

labor groups to postpone its carbon neutrality target by five years to 2050, aligning with the EU’s timeline and easing pressure on

companies struggling with recession and rising energy costs. The current national goal of achieving decarbonization by 2045 is not

sensible and should be adjusted to match the European target year of 2050, the leader of the IG BCE union and the CEO of Germany’s

biggest power generator RWE told Welt am Sonntag on July 12.
