Monday Metrics: Deliveries, Flights,
Retirements to 5 July 2026
Monday Metrics is our data series focused on key civil aerospace metrics.
It is based on Cirium data for deliveries, retirements, first flights, and
FlightRadar24 data for commercial flights. We thus aim to provide insights
on Airbus production, as well as aftermarket trends for MTU Aero, Safran
and Rolls-Royce. Please contact the team for feedback & suggestions.
Deliveries: Airbus deliveries at 8 so far in July. Cirium showed Airbus delivering 26 aircraft last
week (20 A320, 4 A220, and 2 A350), of which 8 in the first days of July (7 A320 and 1 A350),
slightly up vs last year at 7 deliveries (+14% MTD yoy), bringing the year-to-date deliveries up
12% yoy. As usual, Cirium data can lag actual recorded deliveries by a few days, hence we
would expect actual deliveries to be slightly ahead of their estimates.
First Flights: Airbus first flights at 8 so far in July. Cirium showed 12 first flights for Airbus
last week (7 A320, 1 A330 and 4 A350), of which 8 have occurred so far in July (5 A320, 1 A330,
and 2 A350). This compares to 14 first flights over the same period last year (-43% MTD yoy,
on small numbers), and we expect c. 70-75 first flights in July.
Retirements level: now at 219 YTD. We have now updated our seasonality to reflect real data
from 2000-2025, vs. our prior assumption of a constant rate of retirement throughout the year.
Using our adjusted run-rate, this would put total 2026 retirements (for the narrowbody and
widebody fleet) at 1.1% and 1.1% of the end-2025 fleet (2025: 1.4% and 1.5% respectively). Total
CFM56 retirements YTD stand at 120 through 5th July (vs.
