Feedback on the Updates

The Wolfe Byte

Proposed TAVR NCD turned over two Mondays ago. On surface updates are supportive of TAM expansion, efficiency

gains at existing centers, & opening new centers. We got fresh feedback from two interventional cardiologists.

ICYMI – Wolfe dili on the TAVR NCD so far, in chronological order:

On to the freshest of feedback…we heard from two interventional cardiologists.

Dr. Andrew Goldsweig – interventional cardiologist and Director of Heart and Vascular at Bay State Cardiology in

Springfield, MA. His institution does about 425 TAVRs per year.

●Existing TAVR center efficiencies: Dr. Goldsweig believes dropping dual operator requirement and two-clinic-

visit requirement will increase TAVR volumes by +5%-10%. Effective immediately upon NCD implementation, no

two-operator requirement may allow for scheduling a few more TAVRs in slots when previously a surgeon was

unavailable. However, scheduling the surgeon not a major rate-limiter in his experience. Only one clinic visit will

increase clinic bandwidth substantially, but cardiac surgeons may push back.

●Dropping center volume requirements = ‘new store growth’: Sees a delayed increase in TAVR volumes to come
