Expert Call

We hosted a call with Jason Wu, PMC manager at Mammotion. Robotic

lawn mowers are moving from a niche gadget into a global OPE

upgrade cycle, supported by penetration growth in Europe, North America,

APAC, rising wireless adoption and use-case expansion into commercial

scenarios. The expert believes near-term tariff headwind may shake out

weaker players, and winners will be those can own the premium product,

build offline service reach, and drive cost-down.

EU anti-dumping remains near-term overhang, but could accelerate industry consolidation.

The EU has temporarily suspended provisional duties, but final outcomes remain uncertain. If

imposed, the expert estimated anti-dumping duties to range from 15% to 60%, with premium

players such as Mammotion and Ninebot likely facing lower rates of 15-25%, while smaller

players could face higher tariffs. Thus, Chinese players are shifting production offshore.

According to Mr Wu, Mammotion plans to move 10-20% of production overseas in 2026,

50-60% in 2027 and 70-80% in 2028. Although overseas production costs are ~10% higher

than in China, it could save more in tariff costs.

The long-term robotic lawn mower market opportunity is supported by penetration and use-

case expansion. The expert suggested China brands collectively target c.3mn units in 2026,

while he thinks some company targets appear aggressive. According to Mr Wu, Dreame’s 1mn

unit goal for 2026 is challenging, and he believes a more realistic target would be 400-500k

units. In addition, he believes Ninebot can achieve 300-400k unit sales amid tariff uncertainty,

vs its internal target of 500-600k units.
