and wholesalers have called for a 12-month transition period ahead of the EU’s Packaging and

Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), citing operational and cost risks, reported Modaes

yesterday. Industry body EuroCommerce warned that key details remain unresolved ahead of

the 12 August implementation date and called on Member States and the European

Commission for greater regulatory clarity, detailed techniocal guidelines, and realistic deadlines

that take into account the operational constraints of existing supply chains.

Tesco Mobile explores re-entry into broadband. The FT reports this morning that Tesco

Mobile is exploring relaunching broadband services. Tesco Mobile is the largest mobile virtual

network operator, with >5.8m customers (Enders Analysis). It has reportedly held initial talks

about offering broadband services over Virgin Media O2 and Nexfibre's fibre networks. Tesco

Media is a JV between Tesco and Virgin Media O2. Relaunching broadband, 11 years after it sold

its 75,000 customers business to TalkTalk, would allow cross-selling to its existing mobile base,

bringing more business into the Tesco ecosystem which is powered by the Clubcard loyalty

engine. Tesco Mobile customers already earn Clubcard points. Tesco Mobile commented that it

as part of “the normal course of running our business” it had “regular conversations with

potential partners about opportunities”, but it "currently [has] no plans to launch into the

broadband market.”

Clavin Klein, Adidas and Uniqlo ads banned by ASA. The Guardian reported yesterday that

the UK's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned advertisements for Clavin Klein,

Adidas and Uniqlo promoting 'recycled' clothing and shoes.
