• Teledyne FLIR Defense Launches Black Recon Vehicle-Mounted Microdrone System.

Teledyne FLIR Defense has announced the Black Recon, a three-drone microdrone system

designed to autonomously launch from, return to, and recharge aboard manned ground

vehicles for RSTA missions. Each drone weighs under 450 grams, achieves up to 55 mph, and

offers up to one hour of flight time. First flights occurred in Norway last winter; the company has

signed contracts with two unnamed European customers and expects U.S. Army trials later

this year. Deliveries are targeted for 2027, with future modules planned for lethality payloads

and CBRN detection.
