field of zinc finger proteins (ZFPs), highly selective DNA binding proteins.
Importantly, ZFP are modular tools that can be used for gene editing or to
modulate transcription. We see a few differences vs. CRISPR: 1) small size,
so amenable to AAV (Cas9 is too big); 2) the platform has higher barriers
to entry given that selectivity requires engineering the aa sequence; and
3) ZFPs are human proteins (not bacteria like CRISPR) and therefore have
lower immunogenicity risk.
