June Price Check: C’board +$50/ton hike
fully implemented on tight supply
Industry Overview
Tight supply drives quick c’board hike 19 June 2026
Fastmarkets RISI's (RISI) Pulp & Paper Week (PPW) published its June price review for Equity
paperboard. Overall, containerboard prices increased $50/ton for both linerboard and United States
medium, ahead of our forecasts (we had thought implementation might take through Paper/Forest Products
July based on our research). PPW reported that 42-lb kraftliner increased to $1,040
1,050/ton, bringing cumulative increases to $100/ton since January (and similar for other
c’board grades). On demand, contacts pointed to a modest uptick in board, with some
suggesting the World Cup is contributing incrementally (e.g., food service packaging tied George L. Staphos
to stadium activity), though overall corrugated box demand remains mixed – this is ResearchBofAS Analyst
consistent with comments from our recent BofA Boxmaker Survey. The article notes that +1 646 855 4495

like to see the kraft increase rate pick up, though RISI notes buyers were waiting to see reinhardt.vanderwalt@bofa.com
