CagriSema looked solid as both a monotherapy and add-on for type 2 diabetes patients, with new disclosures on
safety & efficacy arriving largely in-line with expectations. Its mechanism contributes more to the case for amylin,
with HbA1c+weight loss composite data strong.
Setting the stage for CagriSema. CagriSema is being developed by Novo (NOVOB) as a fixed dose combination of the
amylin receptor agonist, cagrilintide, and the GLP-1 receptor agonist, semaglutide. Essentially, the symposium further
establishes what additional benefits type 2 diabetic patients can receive on top of Ozempic (semaglutide) via an amylin
agent. Amylin receptor agonism is intended to reduce postprandial glucagon secretion, improve insulin sensitivity, and
reduce food intake. GLP-1 receptor agonism, on the other hand, reduces glucagon secretion, increases insulin secretion,
and reduces appetite / food cravings / energy intake. These roles are distinct, but complimentary. Recall that we've
already seen the benefits of CagriSema in obesity, with full pivotal results presented at ADA last year. NOVOB has now
submitted CagriSema for regulatory approval in obesity, with an FDA decision expected by year-end to support a 2027
launch. Just as a reminder, we're still waiting for the cardiovascular outcomes trial data from REDEFINE 3, expected
2027, before NOVOB will submit CagriSema to regulators for T2D.
