China Power Battery Monthly Chartbook: Jun
ESS-Driven Growth Set to Continue
China’s power battery output is projected to increase in June 2026, driven
mainly by ESS demand and ICCSINO reports. Only Eve’s NCM battery output
is expected to rise (due to BMW orders). Battery prices should remain stable
except for higher electrolyte costs. In April, ESS shipments rebounded, and
EV battery growth was limited to the CV segment, where tier-2 companies
gained market share from CATL.
Scheduled production volume (ICCSINO, Fig. 1): Most major power battery makers are set to
increase LFP battery output m-o-m in June 2026E, led by strong BESS demand. Eve should
remain the only company with strong NCM output m-o-m growth in Jun '26, driven by BMW’s
cylindrical battery orders. CATL anticipates a 5% m-o-m rise in LFP output in Jun ’26 and a
c.65% yoy increase for 1H26, while its NCM output will remain largely flat m-o-m in Jun ’26 but
rise c.24% yoy for 1H26. Only BYD and CALB will see faster LFP production volume growth m-o-
m in Jun ‘26 compared to Jun ‘25. For 1H26, Gotion expects a 95% yoy leap in LFP production,
Eve 73%, and CALB 56%. Gotion and CALB forecast NCM output declines of 3% and c.11% yoy
in 1H26, while Eve projects a 158% yoy surge in 1H26.
Pricing trend (ICCSINO data, Fig. 2): According to ICCSINO's sample, LFP and NCM battery
prices at major power battery companies will remain stable m-o-m in Jun '26. Regarding
upstream materials, ICCSINO expects only electrolyte prices to rise 3-4% m-o-m in Jun '26,
while cathode, anode, and separator prices should stay stable m-o-m.
