UK Altnet – G.Network re-applies for Ofcom Code Powers

UK altnet G.Network, recently emerged from administration debt-free and has re-applied

for Ofcom Code Powers under its new company G.Network Holdco Limited. The

application states the operator's FTTP network now provides symmetrical connectivity up

to 10Gbps, with c.420k premises passed and c.375k connectable premises, versus a

Thinkbroadband estimate closer to 260k Ready for Service last year. The previous Code

Powers were held under G. Network Communications Limited. The new application

focuses on commercialising existing infrastructure and supporting customer connections,

upgrades and maintenance, while leaving the door open for wider expansion. Code Powers

help reduce street works licensing requirements and support access to Openreach ducts and

poles via PIA. The takeover by FitzWalter Capital was previously reported. (Source:

addressing rising demand driven by AI expansion. The operator has closed smaller sites and

optimised larger ones, replacing older facilities with newer, more efficient infrastructure.

Orange has committed to solarising buildings and sourcing lower-carbon electricity.
