Showcases The Next Generation

Eli Lilly (LLY)

The Wolfe Byte

During the retatrutide symposium for TRIUMPH-1 & TRANSCEND-T2D-1, there was overwhelming enthusiasm &

excitement for the asset with an impressive ovation. We'd particularly stress the importance of the 4 mg dose, with

one titration step, which showed 19% weight loss!

Lilly's triple-G, retatrutide, represents yet another tool in the toolbox for providers. Lilly (LLY) unveiled full data for

the phase 3 TRIUMPH-1 (obesity and overweight) and TRANSCEND-T2D-1 (Type 2 diabetes) studies of retatrutide

(reta), a first-in-class GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon triple hormone receptor agonist. From the symposium, we'd argue

provider and investor excitement was palpable as retatrutide provides a new option, going where no prior weight loss

agent has gone before, with mean weight loss of 28.3%, and notably 27.2% of patients on TRIUMPH-1 achieving weight

loss of ≥35%. Reach out to us for any of the presentations here at ADA!

TRANSCEND-T2D-1 HbA1c control and weight loss was solid, as expected. Earlier this year, LLY top-lined results

for retatrutide in patients with T2D as an adjunct to diet and exercise (our take here). TRANSCEND-T2D-1 was a 40-

week study in 537 participants receiving either retatrutide 4 mg, 9 mg or 12 mg, or placebo.

●HbA1c: Here, at 40 weeks, using the treatment-regimen estimand, retatrutide showed an A1c change of -1.7%,

-1.9% and -1.9% for the 4, 9 and 12 mg arms, respectively, vs. -0.8% for placebo from a baseline of 7.9%.
