Aldi opens UK’s largest supermarket distribution centre in Leicestershire. Aldi has begun

operations at its new Bardon distribution centre in Leicestershire, which it claims is Britain’s

largest supermarket warehouse, reported The Grocer yesterday. The automated site will act as a

national replenishment hub, serving nearly 350 stores at scale once fully operational as well as

serving as a national replenishment hub to support Aldi's existing warehouse network. Aldi

secured planning permission for the facility in 2020, began construction the following year, and

completed the main building in 2024. Aldi has worked with technology partners Dematic and

Cimcorp to install machines that unpack deliveries from suppliers and store cases of products in

floor-to-ceiling racks until they are ready to be delivered to stores. It has invested over £500m

into the site as part of its previously announced £1.6bn investment in Britain in 2026 and 2027.

Aldi cuts prices on 200+ products. Aldi has reduced prices on more than 200 products across

grocery, household and personal care categories, including over £60m of cuts introduced this

week, reported NamNews yesterday. This takes total investment in pricing to over £200m year-

to-date.
