ASDA rolls out product, price and in-store changes. ASDA has introduced a refresh across

product ranges, pricing and in-store experience as part of its ongoing turnaround, reported

Retail Week yesterday. The refresh includes more than 400 new food and drink lines, over 230

additions to frozen, price cuts on hundreds of core items and the reintroduction of greengrocers

to improve availability and presentation. Chief customer officer Rachel Eyre said the changes

target core weekly shop categories and value perception, with further investment in store

standards and an enhanced rewards programme.

Just Eat pilots AI-powered ordering via WhatsApp in Europe. Just Eat is piloting an AI-

powered ordering service via WhatsApp, allowing users to discover and select meals through a

conversational interface before completing payment in its app, reported The Grocer yesterday.

The rollout, initially planned for Spain and the Netherlands, uses the company’s in-app AI

assistant to interpret natural language and recommend restaurants and retail options. This

marks its first integration of ordering within a messaging platform.

Report warns food price spikes unlikely to reverse despite easing costs. Food prices are

unlikely to fall back meaningfully after sharp increases, with declines typically slow or limited

following shocks, according to the Energy & Climate Intelligence Unit’s “Rockets and Feathers”

report, reported The Grocer yesterday. Analysis of 30 years of data showed shelf prices falling

just 1% after six months, 5% after one year and 7% after two years.
