Progress on major large-scale nuclear projects

 Bulgaria. Westinghouse, HDEC and Kozloduy NPP-New Build signed an engineering contract for the project, with the ministers saying that signing the contract meant

that the schedule and financial details would be confirmed by the end of 2026. The Ministry of Energy and the US's Citi Bank agreed on a partnership in July 2025 to

secure funding for the construction of the new units, and site location applications were submitted.

 Poland. National nuclear agency PEJ submitted a construction permit application and preliminary safety analysis report to the national nuclear regulator for its first nuclear

project in Pomerania, comprising three Westinghouse AP1000 units at an estimated €42bn, with unit 1 targeted for 2036 operation. PEJ plans to file a construction permit

with the Pomeranian regional government in 2027, and groundbreaking is targeted for 4Q28.

 Vietnam. KEPCO and Vietnam's PVN signed an MOU to jointly review nuclear development cooperation, including new reactor plans and risk analysis, alongside a

separate financing MOU with Korea Eximbank and K-Sure, strengthening Korea’s positioning for a potential Ninh Thuan-2 bid.

 Korea. Kim Sung-hwan, Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment stated that the government will include one large-scale nuclear plant in the next Basic Plan, and

pursue an energy mix that runs renewable energy and nuclear power in parallel. Site selection is to take place in June.
